
11 Chargers put down kills in sweep of Wright
GALESBURG — Every member of the Sandburg volleyball team got in on the action Thursday night as the Chargers swept Wright 25-10, 25-8, 25-10 in a Region 4 match at John Lewis Gym.
Eleven of the 12 players on Sandburg's roster recorded at least one kill in the victory. The only one without a kill, Lauren Powell, served up two aces.
The Chargers (23-5) tied a season-high with 15 aces against the Rams. Six of those came from sophomore Natalie Burden, who had five in a row during a 6-0 run that gave Sandburg an early 6-3 lead.
Sophomore Ayla Cannon, playing in front of a group players and coaches from her alma mater, had a team-best eight kills and hit .357 in the match. The Burlington (Iowa) High School product also had two aces.
Setter Grace Vyhnanek had 23 of the Chargers' 27 assists and served three aces. Libero Madeline Mooney led the team with nine digs.
