Chargers get sweep at Highland behind Vyhnanek’s 31 assists

FREEPORT — The Sandburg volleyball team earned a 25-15, 25-19, 25-10 Arrowhead Conference sweep at Highland on Tuesday night.

The Chargers (21-4, 4-1) finished the match with a .329 hitting percentage, including a team-best 12 kills on a .435 mark from sophomore Taylor Wagner. Sophomore Natalie Burden also reached double figures in kills, totaling 11.

Sophomore setter Grace Vyhnanek, back in the lineup after sitting out the final three matches of last weekend's Region 4 Crossover because of an injury, dished out 31 assists in the victory and had two of Sandburg's five aces. Abigail Shaffer also had two aces for the Chargers.

Libero Madeline Mooney led Sandburg defensively with 18 digs, and Olivia Falborg finished with five blocks (two solo). Ayla Cannon also had a pair of solo blocks for the Chargers.
