Chargers Stay Unbeaten in Arrowhead Conference With Sweep at Highland

FREEPORT — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team pushed its Arrowhead Conference winning streak to 17 matches with a 25-15, 27-25, 25-16 sweep at Highland on Thursday evening.

The Chargers improved to 18-8 overall this season and 6-0 in conference action.

Ayla Cannon and Natalie Burden each tallied double-digit kills for Sandburg, with Cannon putting down 11 on a .450 hitting percentage and Burden notching 10. Burden also had 13 digs in the victory and served four of the Chargers' five aces.

Libero Madeline Mooney had a team-best 29 digs for Sandburg, tying for her second-most in a match this season. Freshman setter Grace Vyhnanek had 35 assists in addition to four kills and eight digs.

Cannon had five total blocks (three solo) for the Chargers. Sophomore Grace Evans also had three solo blocks and finished with four in all.
