Chargers Drop Road Match at No. 16 Cougars

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College volleyball team took the first set before falling 22-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-10 in a nonconference match at No. 16 Illinois Central on Wednesday night.

The Chargers (12-4) held the Cougars to a -.026 hitting percentage en route to winning the first set.  

Natalie Burden finished with a team-high eight kills for Sandburg, which had won 12 of its last 13 matches entering the contest. Ayla Cannon had seven kills, and Addison DeSpain and Lillian Isenhour each added six.

Madeline Mooney led the Chargers with 16 digs, while DeSpain added 11 and Burden 10. Cannon finished with three blocks (all solos), and Grace Vyhnanek had 24 assists from the setter position.

ICC's Kaitlyn Baumann had 19 kills to lead all players.
