Hackman leads 3 Chargers in top 20 at Fighting Scot Fall Invite

MONMOUTH — The Sandburg women's golf team had three sophomores finish in the top 20 as the Chargers placed fourth at the Fighting Scot Fall Invite on Saturday and Sunday at Gibson Woods.

Ava Hackman led the Chargers by finishing 13th with a two-day total of 171. Hackman opened with an 87 and posted a 13-over-par 84 on Sunday.

Sandburg's Kylie Fahnestock (91-90—181) placed 18th, and Lauren Minkel (94-89—183) tied for 19th individually.

The Chargers, the only two-year program in the field, finished fourth out of six teams. Sandburg opened with a 369 in Saturday's first round and shaved nine strokes off its score Sunday for a 36-hole total of 729.

Illinois College won the tournament, shooting rounds of 330 and 317 to beat runner-up Marian by seven shots.

Waldorf's Amanda Karvala took medalist honors by two strokes over Marian's Yinan Lu. Karvala opened with a 79 and shot a 5-over 76 in the final round for a 155 total.
