Schwingle Places 3rd at Rain-Shortened Chargers Spring Invite

GALESBURG — Olivia Schwingle finished third overall as the Carl Sandburg College women's golf team hosted the Chargers Spring Invite on Saturday at Lake Bracken.

The tournament was shortened to just 18 holes after Sunday's scheduled second round at Bunker Links was canceled because of inclement weather.

Schwingle finished with a 13-over-par 86 on Saturday, finishing just one shot behind runner-up Aubrey Duncan of Iowa Wesleyan and three strokes behind medalist Emma VanderWall of Augustana.

The Chargers had three other players finish in the top 10. Lainey Jensen, competing as an individual, tied for sixth with a 96, and Ellie Wasson and Anna Duden each tied for eighth with rounds of 97.

Sandburg finished third as a team with a total of 382 for the day. The Chargers placed ahead of Monmouth (455) and were only four shots back of second-place Augustana's 378. Iowa Wesleyan won the event with a score of 369.
