Wasson Ties for 7th as Chargers Begin Spring Season

FORT MADISON, Iowa — Ellie Wasson tied for seventh overall as the Carl Sandburg College women's golf team started its spring season with a fifth-place finish at the IW Spring Tiger Classic on Tuesday at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course.

Wasson posted an 89 to lead the Chargers and match three other players for seventh. She was three shots out of a tie for fifth and five back from a tie for third. Olivia Schwingle finished in a tie for 14th with a score of 94 for Sandburg.

The Chargers totaled a 390 for the day, finishing 60 shots ahead of sixth-place Monmouth and 10 shots back of Simpson for fourth.

Sophomore Anna Duden (103) tied for 23rd, while freshmen Lainey Jensen and Addy Trego (104) tied for 25th.

Waldorf won the event with a score of 337, and Aubrey Duncan of host Iowa Wesleyan was medalist with a round of 3-over-par 75.
