Wasson Takes 3rd Overall, Sandburg Women’s Golf Places 2nd at Monmouth
MONMOUTH — Ellie Wasson shot a pair of rounds in the 80s and the Carl Sandburg College women's golf team finished second at the Fighting Scot Fall Invite this weekend at Gibson Woods.
Wasson had an opening-round 88 on Saturday and finished with an 89 on Sunday to take solo third for the tournament. The freshman's total of 177 was one shot back of runner-up Amanda Stevens from host Monmouth.
Olivia Schwingle and Addy Trego also posted top-10s for the Chargers. Schwingle took seventh with rounds of 93 and 96, and Trego, playing as an individual tied for eighth. She matched Schwingle's 93 on Saturday and added a 97 in the final round.
The Chargers placed second as a team, shooting a first-round 378 followed by a 383 on Sunday for a 761 total. Iowa Wesleyan won with a 704 score for 36 holes, and Blackburn was third at 827.
Iowa Wesleyan's Aubrey Duncan shot 76-80 to take medalist honors by 20 strokes.
