ROCKFORD — Despite a double-double from Brook Pieper, the Sandburg women's basketball team couldn't withstand a 3-point barrage from Rock Valley in a 93-58 loss Tuesday night.
Pieper led all players in scoring and rebounding, totaling 18 points and 10 boards. It marked the ninth double-double of the season for the Chargers' sophomore forward. Pieper finished 8 of 11 from the floor, hit both of her foul shots and also had two steals.
The Golden Eagles had 15 3s on the night, while Sandburg (10-6) made just 3 of 12 from long distance. Rock Valley led 23-14 after the opening quarter and outscored the Chargers 21-12 in the second to open up a 44-26 halftime advantage.
The loss snapped a four-game win streak for Sandburg, which was playing its first contest since Dec. 20.
Freshman Antonia Kisler had 16 points for Sandburg as she went 5 for 11 from the field and 6 of 7 at the charity stripe. Kisler also picked up seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
