
Chargers pull away late for win at Culver-Stockton JV
CANTON, Mo. — Lillian Covarrubias flirted with a triple-double, and Antonia Kisler and Brook Pieper each had double-doubles as the Sandburg women's basketball team earned a 66-52 win at Culver-Stockton JV on Sunday evening.
Kisler finished with 13 points and a season-best 16 rebounds. The Galesburg product had six offensive boards and was 4 of 6 from the free-throw line. Kisler has had double-digit rebounds in each of her last three games and double-doubles in two of those outings.
Pieper had 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting while picking up 11 rebounds, with seven of them on the offensive end. The double-double was the sophomore forward's fourth of the year.
Covarrubias and Capre Ferguson led the Chargers (5-3) in scoring with 15 points each. Covarrubias also had eight rebounds and eight assists while shooting 6 of 15 from the field. Ferguson connected on 6 of her 13 attempts.
Sandburg led 32-28 at halftime and pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 17-8.
