
Hall, Pieper put up doubles-double in Chargers’ blowout of Red Devils
GALESBURG — The Sandburg women's basketball team raced to an early lead and cruised to an 81-39 wire-to-wire victory over Eureka JV on Wednesday night at John Lewis Gym.
The Chargers (2-2) had four players score in double figures and got double-doubles from sophomore Brook Pieper and freshman Tiera Hall.
KEY MOMENT
Sandburg started the game with a 12-0 run in the first 4:50 and held a 19-2 lead after 7 minutes. Freshman point guard Lillian Covarrubias scored six of her 12 points on the night during the opening stretch. The Chargers also got 3-pointers from Gabbie Vontz and Paige Huffman in the early going.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Hall had her best outing so far as a Charger as she came off the bench to score 13 points and grab 11 boards for her first collegiate double-double. The freshman from Katy, Texas, was 5 of 7 from the field and hit 3 of 4 foul shots.
