
Chargers Extend Streak to 7 With Win at Wright
CHICAGO — The Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team remained red hot by pulling away for a 57-46 win at Wright on Thursday, the Chargers' seventh straight victory.
Savannah Dominique and Gabbie Vontz each turned in double-digit scoring nights off the bench for Sandburg (8-1). Dominique scored a team- and season-high 12 while going 6 of 12 from the field. The sophomore also grabbed eight rebounds and had two assists in the win.
Vontz, coming off her first double-digit performance as a Charger, added 11 points, five rebounds and three steals while shooting 4 for 10.
Sandburg sophomore Kelci Shelton delivered a stellar all-around performance, scoring eight points, grabbing seven rebounds, handing out six assists, collecting eight steals and tallying three blocks.
Camile Kruse and Capre Ferguson each pulled in 11 rebounds as Sandburg piled up 56 total boards.
The teams went into halftime tied at 24 before the Chargers outscored the Rams 12-7 in the third quarter to open up a 36-31 lead. Sandburg outscored Wright 21-15 in the final period.
UP NEXT FOR SANDBURG
2 p.m. Saturday vs. unbeaten Lake County, which handed the Chargers their lone loss of the season.
