Pieper Goes for 30 Points, 21 Boards as Chargers Win 4th in a Row

MADISON, Wis. — Led by Brook Pieper's monster double-double, the Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team blew out Madison 92-50 on Saturday as the Chargers won their fourth in a row.

Pieper poured in 30 points and grabbed 21 rebounds (both season highs) for Sandburg (4-1), which matched its highest scoring output in two seasons under Kellen Fernetti. Pieper finished 13 of 27 from the field and pulled down 13 of her rebounds on the offensive end. The freshman forward also had three assists, three steals and two blocks in the victory.

Sophomore guard Elly Bentley added a season-high 26 points on 12-of-18 shooting. It marked Bentley's fourth 20-point outing of the season. Bentley added seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Ten of the 11 Chargers who saw the floor Saturday had at least one field goal.

Sandburg more than doubled the WolfPack on the glass, outrebounding Madison 57-24. The Chargers finished with more offensive rebounds (31) than the WolfPack had total boards.

Sandburg led 18-9 after a quarter and outscored Madison 27-7 in the second for a 45-16 lead at the break.

A game after scoring 91 points, the Chargers' 92 against Madison tied for their most in a contest during Fernetti's tenure. They also scored 92 last Feb. 25 at Lincoln Trail. Sandburg has put up at least 82 points in each outing during its four-game win streak, and the Chargers are averaging 81.8 points per game this season.

Kayla Staveness led Madison with 17 points.
