Chargers Win at Lincoln Trail to Wrap Up Regular Season; Begin Region IV Tourney Monday at Home

ROBINSON— Elly Bentley's team-best 28 points helped the Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team to a season-high in scoring as the Chargers closed their regular season with a 92-86 win at Lincoln Trail on Saturday.

Bentley led four Chargers in double figures — and three with double-doubles — as she went 9 of 16 from the field and knocked down 10 of her 12 free throws on the afternoon. The freshman point guard also doled out a season-high 10 assists in the victory.

Sandburg held on after taking a 51-31 lead into halftime and a 68-50 lead into the fourth quarter.

Sophia Gugliotta finished with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including a 3-for-6 day from 3-point range for Sandburg. Forward Lilly Isenhour and Natalie Righi joined Bentley with double-doubles for the Chargers. Isenhour had 17 points and 10 boards while going 6 of 9 from the floor and a perfect 5 of 5 at the stripe. Righi was 4 of 6 from the field, 4 for 4 from the foul line and matched Isenhour's 10 rebounds to lead all players.

Lincoln Trail's Graycie Poe had 31 points on 11 of 16 shooting to lead all scorers.

With the victory, the Chargers avenged a 69-61 home loss to the Statesmen on Nov. 10 and finished the regular season with 11 wins, more than double their total from a season ago. Sandburg's 92 points in the win were their most in a game this season, topping the 87 they put up Nov. 28 at Southeastern.
