Isenhour, Gugliotta Put Up Double-Doubles in Win Over Lady Blues

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College women's basketball closed the first half with a big run and went on to defeat Illinois College JV 65-54 on Monday night at John Lewis Gym.

KEY MOMENTS
• The Chargers (5-12) fell into an early hole and saw their largest deficit at 20-6 late in the first quarter against the Lady Blues.
• Still down 25-12 in the second, Sandburg closed the half on a 16-0 run and never trailed again. Lilly Isenhour opened the stretch with back-to-back buckets and scored eight of her 16 points on the night during the game-turning run.
• The Chargers took their largest lead of the night at 46-33 after a 10-2 burst in the third quarter. Sophomore forward Natalie Righi kicked off the run with a three-point play.
• Illinois College JV got within 53-49 with 3:50 to go in the contest, but the Chargers answered back with six straight points behind an Elly Bentley pull-up jumper, two Isenhour free throws and a Bentley drive to push their lead back to 10 with 2:15 to play.

SANDBURG STANDOUTS
Isenhour and Sophia Gugliotta each scored 16 points and finished with a double-double in the victory. Isenhour went 6 of 11 from the floor finished with 11 rebounds (five on the offensive glass) as she notched her fifth straight double-double and seventh on the season. Gugliotta was 5 of 16 from the field and had 10 boards for her third double-double.
