Chargers Ride Bentley’s 22 Points, Isenhour’s Double-Double to Win at Elgin

ELGIN — Led by big days from freshmen Lilly Isenhour and Elly Bentley, the Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team held on for a 61-56 road win at Elgin on Saturday.

Bentley led all players with 22 points, while Isenhour had 17 points and a season-high 18 rebounds to help the shorthanded Chargers (4-9) snap a three-game skid.

With several players out due to injury, Sandburg dressed just seven players for the contest, but that didn't stop the Chargers from leading after every quarter and by as much as 23 in the contest. Sandburg jumped ahead 17-7 after the first, led 34-18 at halftime and took a 49-37 lead into the fourth.

Bentley's 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting led the Chargers, and she also knocked down 6 of her 8 free throws. The first-year point guard added five rebounds and a pair of assists.

Isenhour's 17 points were one off matching her season best from Nov. 17 at DuPage, and her 18 boards marked the fifth time she's finished in double figures on the glass in 11 games played this year. It also tied Sophia Gugliotta's 18 rebounds at DuPage for the most by a Charger this season. Isenhour was 7 of 9 from the floor Saturday, went 3 of 5 from the line and had four of her rebounds on the offensive glass.

Lily Hudgins added 12 points for Sandburg. The sophomore guard knocked down 2 of her 4 3-point tries.

Nevaeh Howard and Ari Franco each had 12 points for Elgin. Kelechi Uchem pulled down 22 rebounds for the Spartans.
