Isenhour Tallies 12, but Chargers Fall Late at Home to Snappers

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg women's basketball team rallied to take a late lead, but Spoon River closed with six straight points to defeat the Chargers 63-60 on Wednesday at John Lewis Gym.
KEY MOMENTS
• The Snappers led 15-6 to start the second quarter, but Sophia Gugliotta started the second with a layup as the Chargers (3-9) came back within six. Elly Bentley added nine points in the second period to help Sandburg get within 32-26 at halftime.
• The Chargers had a 9-0 run late in the third quarter to grab their first lead of the second half at 47-43. Bentley hit a mid-range jump shot with 2:15 left in the contest for a 60-57 Sandburg advantage, but the Snappers scored the last six points in the game.
• Serenity Price's layup with 1:12 left on the clock proved to be the game-winner. The Chargers had a chance to tie in the final seconds, but Gracie Sims' 3-point attempt was off the mark.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Lilly Isenhour finished with 12 points, shooting 3 of 5 from the field and 6 of 9 from the free-throw line. Isenhour also added four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
