Gugliotta has 13 Points, 9 Boards in Loss to Warriors
GALESBURG — Sophia Gugliotta led the Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team in scoring and rebounding, but the Chargers couldn't overcome a season-worst shooting day in a 66-37 loss to Division I Rend Lake on Saturday at John Lewis Gym.
KEY MOMENT
The Warriors lead 7-3 in the first quarter before closing the period with seven straight points from Da'Zaria James on a leaning jumper, a three-point play and a layup. Gugliotta's 3-pointer to begin the second quarter was the only time the Chargers closed within single digits in the final three quarters.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Gugliotta finished with 13 points and nine rebounds to top the Chargers (3-8) in each category. She finished 5 of 10 from the field, which included knocking down 3 of her 4 3-point attempts. Gugliotta's three triples were a season-high, and she was a point away from matching her highest scoring output of her freshman campaign.
FOR THE WARRIORS
• Lezhauria Williams: 18 points
• James: 11 points
