Hudgins Hits 8 3s, Bentley Scores 32 in Chargers' Win at Southeastern
KEOKUK, Iowa — Elly Bentley dropped a career-high 32 points and Lily Hudgins drilled eight 3-pointers in the Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team's 87-63 win at Southeastern on Monday night.
Bentley's big night marked her fourth straight 20-point performance. She scored 10 points in the first quarter and went into halftime with 14 as the Chargers built a 45-30 lead. The freshman point guard then scored 16 of Sandburg's 25 points in the third quarter as the Chargers opened up a 65-47 advantage. Bentley made 15 of her 30 field-goal tries, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out a team-best five assists.
Hudgins' eight 3s on 11 attempts accounted for all 24 of her points as she doubled her career high for scoring. The sophomore guard knocked down two triples in each of the first two periods, hit another in the third quarter and sank three more in the fourth.
Sophia Gugliotta had six points and led the Chargers on the glass with nine rebounds.
Sandburg's 10 treys on the night were a season high as the Chargers finished 10 of 18 from beyond the arc. The Chargers' previous best this season was four 3s on Nov. 4 at Ancilla.
Alexis Standard and Abbey Belba each had 19 for the Blackhawks.
