Bentley Scores 27 for 2nd Straight Game in Loss to Snappers

CANTON — Elly Bentley matched her season-high in scoring, but the Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team came up short 67-60 at Spoon River on Tuesday afternoon.

Bentley racked up 27 points for the second straight game for the Chargers (2-5), who trailed just 48-47 after three quarters but were outscored 19-13 by the Snappers in the fourth.

Bentley was the only Sandburg player to hit double figures. She scored 10 points in the first quarter as the Chargers built a 19-15 lead. The freshman guard hit one 3-pointer and finished 6 of 7 from the free-throw line. Bentley has scored at least 26 points in three of the last five games, averaging 21.2 points per contest during that stretch.

Gracie Sims added nine points in the loss for the Chargers, who knocked down 11 of their 12 free-throw attempts.

Serenity Price scored 20 to lead Spoon River.
