OGLESBY — Paige Huffman collected three hits on the day, but the Sandburg softball team lost twice at Illinois Valley in an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader Tuesday.

Key moments
• Down 4-0 in the top of the fourth, the Chargers notched six hits in the inning to even the score. Hannah Pyle and Huffman had back-to-back RBI singles that cut Sandburg's deficit in half. With one out, Alexis Brammeier doubled in Pyle with a smash to right. Tegan Cobb followed with a base hit to center that brought in Huffman with the tying run.
• The Eagles regained the lead in the fifth as they opened the inning with a single and tripled in the go-ahead run. A sacrifice fly gave Illinois Valley some insurance.
• Sandburg brought the tying run to the plate in the seventh after Jordyn Climer's one-out single, but Bailey Ryan struck out and Ailexa Hunter flied out to end the game.
Sandburg standout
The Chargers had eight hits in the game, but Huffman was the only one with multiple safeties. The freshman first baseman had a sixth-inning single to go along with her RBI hit in the fourth.
