Chargers topped twice by Pirates on spring break trip

PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Sandburg softball team played the second of three straight doubleheaders during its spring break trip Tuesday, falling twice at Pensacola State.

The Pirates put together a five-run first inning behind four hits, two walks and a pair of Chargers errors.

Sandburg standout
Cheyanne Rodgers delivered an RBI double in the third to account for Sandburg's lone run. Alexis Brammeier led off the inning with a base on balls and scored on Rodgers' line-drive double to left.

Key moment
Pensacola State led just 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth but busted the game open by scoring five runs with two outs. The Pirates scored two on a bases-loaded single, added another run on a base hit and plated two more with a double.

Sandburg standouts
Paige Huffman and Jordyn Climer each went 2 for 2 with a pair of singles for the Chargers.
