Sandburg softball goes to Rock Valley this weekend for Region 4 quarterfinals

GALESBURG — The Sandburg softball team will travel to Rockford this weekend to begin the Region 4 Division II tournament.

The Chargers are the No. 16 seed in the tournament and will play in the quarterfinal bracket Saturday and Sunday at Rock Valley. Sandburg faces the host and top-seeded Golden Eagles in the opening game of the four-team, double-elimination tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Chargers' quarterfinal bracket also includes No. 8 Black Hawk and No. 9 Waubonsee. All four teams will play two games Saturday. The losers of the opening matchups will play at 2 p.m., and the winners will face off at 4 p.m.

The winner of the quarterfinal tournament advances to the Region 4 Midwest District tournament May 11-12 at Black Hawk.
