Sandburg bats stymied on road by Eagles

OGLESBY — The Carl Sandburg College softball team was limited to one run on the day as the Chargers dropped a pair of Arrowhead Conference games at Illinois Valley on Thursday.

KEY MOMENT
Sandburg was held hitless in the contest by Eagles pitcher Katie Bates. The Chargers' lone baserunners came on walks by Alexis Brammeier and Madeline Mooney.

KEY MOMENT
• Scoreless in the fourth, Bailey Ryan led off with a single and moved to third on Maleaha Nagel's one-out double. Ryan then broke the ice by scoring on a passed ball for a 1-0 Chargers lead.
• Sandburg maintained its one-run edge into the fifth before the Eagles scored twice. A double, walk and sacrifice bunt pushed two runners into scoring position. A sac fly tied the game, and IVCC grabbed the lead with a two-out single.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Ryan was 2 for 3 at the plate and scored the Chargers' lone run of the contest.
