Chargers Drop 2 in 2nd Straight Matchup With Wildcats

MOBILE, Ala. — Facing Bishop State for the second straight day, the Carl Sandburg College softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader Monday as the Chargers continued their spring break trip to the Gulf Coast.

KEY MOMENT
Bishop State posted multiple runs in each of the first four innings, including a six-run first.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Maleaha Nagel reached in all three of her plate appearances, going 2 for 2 with a walk and an RBI. She drove in the Chargers' lone run with a fifth-inning hit to right after Ailexa Hunter had doubled with one out.

KEY MOMENT
Mary Hellige kept the Wildcats at bay through the first two innings before Bishop State opened the scoring in the third with a leadoff walk followed by a two-run homer. The Wildcats then tallied five in the fourth to bust the game open.

SANDBURG STANDOUTS
Hunter, Olivia Lewis, Kaitlyn Egenes and Abbi Sammons each had a single to account for the Chargers' four hits. Hunter also stole a base in the contest.
