Nagel has Pair of 3-Hit Games for Sandburg Softball on Road vs. Braves

MOLINE — The Carl Sandburg College softball team tied or led late in both games of its Arrowhead Conference doubleheader at Black Hawk on Tuesday, but the Braves used a pair of big innings to sweep the Chargers despite two strong games at the plate by Maleaha Nagel.

KEY MOMENTS
• Down 5-3 after two innings, the Chargers scored once in the fourth to get within a run and took the lead with a pair of runs in the sixth. Natalie Righi drew a one-out walk in the sixth, stole second and scored on Nagel's base hit to right, tying the game. Chelsey Catton pushed Nagel to third with a double, and Nagel scored when Kayla Wolf followed with a single to center for a 6-5 Sandburg lead.
• The first seven batters of the bottom of the sixth reached base for Black Hawk as the Braves scored eight times to regain the lead.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Nagel finished 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, a run scored and three RBIs in the loss.

KEY MOMENTS
• The Chargers trailed 5-1 before rallying for two-out four runs in the fourth to tie the contest. Nagel led off the inning with double and swapped places with Olivia Lewis after her two-out two-bagger. Abbi Sammons followed with another RBI double to make it 5-3 before Riley Creasey tied the game with a two-run home run to center.
• The Braves regained the lead in the bottom half, scoring seven times. Black Hawk's first four batters in the inning hit for the cycle, and the Braves collected eight hits total in the frame.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Nagel added another three-hit effort, going 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and an RBI.
