Chargers Drop 2 at Eagles Despite Big Days From Wolfe, Nagel

OGLESBY — Emma Wolfe collected seven hits on the day and Maleaha Nagel extended her home run streak to three games with a longball in Game 1, but the Carl Sandburg College softball team was swept in an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader at Illinois Valley on Monday afternoon.

KEY MOMENT
Carley Hacke's two-out, two-run single in the fourth got the Chargers on the board and cut their deficit to 3-2, but the Eagles responded with a four-run bottom of the fourth, with all the runs scoring with two out in the inning.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Nagel knocked a three-run home run to right field in the fifth to pull the Chargers within 7-5. The first baseman finished 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored and three RBIs. The dinger was Nagel's third in as many games and eighth of the season.

KEY MOMENTS
• Down 10-3 in the fifth, the Chargers tallied a pair of runs on RBI base hits from Natalie Righi and Emma Wolfe.
• Sandburg put up four more in the sixth to pull within a run as Wolfe singled in a run, Righi followed with an RBI double and Nagel knocked in two more with a base hit. The Chargers pushed the tying run to second in both the sixth and seventh but was unable to even the score.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Wolfe went 3 for 5 with a triple, scored twice and drove in three to lead a 13-hit effort by the Sandburg lineup and raise her team-leading batting average to .410 for the season.
