Chargers’ Streak Reaches 6 With Blowout Wins Over Kishwaukee

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College softball team continued its hot streak Tuesday with a pair of blowout wins over Kishwaukee at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

The Chargers (10-11 overall, 4-3 Arrowhead Conference) have won six straight games and outscored their opponents 88-26 during that stretch. Sandburg has put up at least 11 runs in all six games of the streak.

Key Moment
Leading 4-3 in the bottom of the third, the Chargers gave themselves some breathing room with a three-run inning that started with back-to-back singles from Gabby Blanchard (South Pekin, Ill./Pekin) and Maddi Benson (Spring Bay, Ill./Metamora). Blanchard scored on a passed ball, and Benson came home on an RBI double by Riley Creasey (Macomb, Ill./Macomb). Creasey later scored on a fielder's choice to make it a 7-3 Chargers lead.

Sandburg Standout
Reagan Eaves (Nauvoo, Ill./Warsaw) was one of six Chargers with a pair of hits in the contest, going 2 for 3 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBIs. Her two-run shot in the second got Sandburg on the board and was her first home run this season.

Key Moment
The Chargers sent 16 batters to the plate and scored a dozen times in the third inning. Sandburg finished the frame with seven singles, two doubles, two triples and two walks.

Sandburg Standout
Chelsey Catton (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) took a no-hitter into the fifth before giving up a one-out single. She allowed just two base hits and struck out five in a five-inning complete game.
