Chargers Collect 24 Runs in Sweep of DuPage

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College softball team erupted for 24 runs in sweeping a doubleheader against DuPage on Sunday afternoon at the Hungate Baseball/Softball Complex.

Key Moment
The Chargers put together a four-run rally in the first after the first two batters of the inning were retired. A walk and a base hit brought up Reagan Eaves (Nauvoo, Ill./Warsaw), who knocked a doubled to left to tie the game at 2-2. Maddi Benson (Spring Bay, Ill./Metamora) followed with a two-run home run to left to put Sandburg ahead 4-2, and the Chargers never trailed again.

Sandburg Standout
Eaves went 3 for 4 at the dish, drove in three and scored a run. She was one of four Chargers with a multi-hit effort.

Key Moment
After five unanswered runs got the Chapparals within 7-5, Sandburg (6-11) scored six times in the sixth to put the game away. Blanchard hit an RBI double to left and later scored on a passed ball. Gracie Rademacker (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) drove home two with a single, and Wolfe tripled to right to bring Rademacker home and end the game via the mercy rule.

Sandburg Standout
Wolfe went 4 for 5 with two doubles, a triple, two runs scored and a run driven in.
