Kiprops Pace Chargers XC Teams at WIU Early Bird Invite
MACOMB — Emmanuel Kiprop and Faith Kiprop led the way for the Carl Sandburg College cross country teams in the WIU Early Bird Invite on Friday evening at Spring Lake Park.
With the Chargers going up against NCAA Division I programs in Western Illinois and Bradley, Emmanuel Kiprop finished fourth in the men's 6-kilometer race, crossing the line in 19:33.4. Calton Kibet also finished in the top 10 for the Sandburg men's team, taking ninth place in 20:45.3.
The Chargers placed third in the men's race with 53 points. Bradley was victorious with 29 points, while WIU had 38.
In the women's 4K, Faith Kiprop led Sandburg with a 14th-place showing in 20:09.6. Freshman Dayanna Ortiz was behind in in 15th in 21:01.5.
The Chargers totaled 80 points to finish third in the women's team standings. WIU won with 25 points, and Bradley had 31.
