Segura, Garcia score twice for Chargers in 6-3 win at Daley

GALESBURG — The Sandburg men's soccer team put up a half-dozen goals for the second straight contest and remained unbeaten through a half-dozen games following a 6-3 Region 4 win at Daley on Tuesday afternoon.

The Chargers (4-0-2) scored twice in the first half and tallied four goals in the final 45 minutes.

Mario Segura and Luis Garcia each scored twice in the win for Sandburg, which had 17 attempts and eight shots on goal.

Felipe Endo Dos Santos' goal on a free kick in the 10th minute got the Chargers on the board, and Garcia came through in the 15th minute as he scored off an assist from Rodrigo De la Fuente.

Alberto Fernandez Do Carmo fed De la Fuente for a score in the 52nd minute. It marked De la Fuente's fourth straight game with a goal.

Segura scored his two goals in the 65th and 75th minutes. His first came on De la Fuente's second assist of the game, and Gabriel Barros Lima was credited for an assist on Segura's second tally.

Garcia's second goal of the match came in the 85th minute, capping the scoring for the Chargers.

Lucas Sa de Albuquerque Maranhao and Mario Gonzalez Luena shared time in goal for the Chargers. Maranhao was credited with the win, though he allowed his first goal of the season in 315 minutes of action.
