Chargers Put Together Dominant 2nd Half in 4-0 Win Over Prairie Fire

GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College men's soccer team scored four unanswered goals in the second half to defeat Knox JV 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Kleine Field and give Chargers coach Gerardo Ruvalcaba his first career victory.

Sandburg (1-0-1) broke the ice in the 47th minute as Saul Etienne took a pass near the left corner of the box from Gabriel Barros Lima, cut back to his right and buried a shot inside the right post.

The Chargers added some insurance in the 76th minute as Matteo Rissato Prado fed Matthew Roach, who connected with a shot to the right side of the goal.

Etienne created a goal in the 83rd minute when he intercepted a pass in the Prairie Fire box, spun away from a defender and made a centering pass to Rodrigo De la Fuente, who put it away for a 3-0 Chargers lead.

Sandburg finished off its dominant effort with a goal in the 90th minute as Lima's corner kick into the box was knocked in by Felipe Augusto Da Silva on a header.

Tian Poyo Capilla stopped all four Knox JV shots on goal to preserve a clean sheet. The Chargers have yet to concede through two matches this season.
