Wake earns All-Arrowhead spot with T6 at conference championship

BYRON — Sandburg men's golf freshman Tanner Wake earned a spot on the All-Arrowhead Conference team as the Chargers competed at the Arrowhead Conference Championship on Tuesday and Wednesday at PrairieView.

Wake tied for sixth overall in the 54-hole championship, finishing 16 over par for the tournament. The freshman from Elmwood posted back-to-back rounds of a 4-over-par 76 in Tuesday's opening 36 holes before closing with an 80 on Wednesday. The top 15 finishers in the 51-player field were named to the all-conference team.

The Chargers placed seventh as a team, shooting 333, 330 and 321 for a total of 984 in their final event of the fall season.

Logan Beers placed 22nd for the Chargers at 32 over for the championship. Beers finished with rounds of 82, 86 and 80. Colby Robertson and Cooper Hansen each tied for 30th at 37 over par. Robertson closed his tournament with a final-round 78.

Highland edged Black Hawk by four shots to win the team championship. The Cougars totaled 911 for the tournament.

Black Hawk's Wil Sigwarth was the individual conference champion, finishing at 4 over par with rounds of 71, 75 and 74. He beat Highland's Francisco Roubineau by two shots for the title.
