Wake’s 77 leads Sandburg men’s golf at Skyhawk Classic

DEER GROVE — Tanner Wake shot 1 under par on the front nine and finished 18th overall to lead the Sandburg men's golf team at the Skyhawk Classic on Thursday at Deer Valley.

The Chargers shot 315 as a team to place seventh, finishing just one shot back of a tie for fifth place and four strokes out of fourth.

Wake posted a 35 on the outward nine, making birdies on the par-5 fourth and eighth holes while recording just one bogey. The freshman from Elmwood finished the day with a 5-over 77.

Sophomore Logan Beers and freshman Cooper Hansen each posted rounds of 79 to tie for 24th. Hansen shot 2 over on the front, while Beers was 2 over on the back nine. Colby Robertson carded an 8-over 80 to tie for 28th and account for the Chargers' other score.

Illinois Central had a 9-under 279 for the day to win by 14 shots over Black Hawk. The Cougars were led by medalist Trey Boecker's 7-under 65. ICC's DJ Norman and Quinn Cox tied for second with a 71.
