Hise’s career-best round leads Chargers at Fyre Lake Invitational
SHERRARD — David Hise fired a career-best round and led the Carl Sandburg College men's golf team at the Fyre Lake Invitational on Monday at Fyre Lake.
Hise put together a 10-over-par 80 to tie for ninth in the 91-player field. While the sophomore didn't record a birdie on the day, he put nine pars on his scorecard and had just one double bogey. Hise had pars on holes 1-4 on his way to a front-nine 39.
Hise finished in a five-way tie for ninth and was five shots back of medalist Peyton Woods of Illinois Central, whose 75 beat teammate Brock Taylor and Clarke's Jacob Luett by a stroke.
Sandburg shot 345 as a team for the one-round event, placing 10th. Logan Beers had an 87, Tyler Picken an 88 and Jake McGarry a 90 for the Chargers' other counting scores.
ICC posted a 316 total to win the tournament by two strokes over St. Ambrose.
