Chargers Shoot Season-Low as 4 Post Rounds in 70s at Kougars Invite
ROCHELLE — Freshman Tyler Picken tied for fourth overall and the Carl Sandburg College men's golf team shot a season-low as it took second at the Kougars Invite on Friday at Fairways Golf Course.
Picken finished with a 2-over-4 74 to tie Highland's Bjorn Van Wassem for fourth place. Picken was one shot back of third, three back of second place and five behind medalist Riku Moriyama of Highland, who posted a 3-under 69.
The Chargers' other three scorers also carded rounds in the 70s as they shot 303 as a team, marking their best round of the fall by 11 strokes. Sophomore Cooper Theleritis tied for sixth individually with a 75, and Clayton Phillips and Owen Sipka added 77s for Sandburg.
The Chargers finished seven shots behind champion Highland and were 10 shots better than third-place Black Hawk in the eight-team event.
