Chargers suffer first losses of season at Oakton Classic

DES PLAINES — The Sandburg men's basketball team came up short in a pair of contests at the Oakton Classic on Friday and Saturday, the Chargers' first losses after a 3-0 start.

FRIDAY
Lake County 80, Sandburg 73

The Chargers (3-2) drilled 10 first-half 3-pointers and took a 44-42 edge into halftime but were outscored 38-29 in the second half by the Lancers.

Sophomore Ethan Price added five more 3s in the second half as he finished with 20 points and a career-high six treys.

Freshman Davante Bradford totaled 17 points, with 13 of them coming in the first half.

SATURDAY
Oakton 61, Sandburg 57

Sandburg took a 33-22 lead into the locker room but was held to just 24 second-half points by the host Owls.

Freshman Larry Olivier Jr. scored 17 points off the bench, including four 3s, to lead the Chargers.

Also reaching double figures for Sandburg were freshman Demarion Honaker (12 points) and sophomore Logan Sluder (10 points).

Oakton's Amare Posey led all players with 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
