Chargers Drop Regular-Season Finale as Panthers Get Late Game-Winner

CHICAGO — The Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit, but Olive-Harvey got a tiebreaking basket in the final seconds to hold off the Chargers 68-66 in Sandburg's regular-season finale Thursday night.

Sandburg trailed 36-24 at the break, but the Chargers pulled even with 41.7 seconds left as Jeremiah Babers fed Roee Dinnar for a game-tying 3-pointer.

Olive-Harvey retook the lead with :13.7 to go as the Panthers' Matthew Hoarde converted a spinning lefthanded layup for the last of his game-high 14 points.

On the final possession, Babers couldn't connect on a reverse layup, but he got his own rebound. The ball found its way to Dinnar, who had a clean look from the right wing, but his shot went just off the back iron as time expired.

Dinnar hit a pair of 3-pointers and tied for the team lead with 12 points. David Hise and Koen Derry also had a dozen points each for the Chargers.
