GALESBURG — Ethan Price had a season-high 22 points, Jeremiah Babers nearly notched a triple-double and the Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team rallied from a double-digit second-half deficit to beat Black Hawk 77-72 on Tuesday at John Lewis Gym.
KEY MOMENTS
• After a tip-in by Roee Dinnar capped a 7-0 Chargers run to tie the game at 27-27, Black Hawk closed the first half with 13 of the final 15 points for a 40-32 lead. The Braves took their largest lead of the night at 42-32 on a bucket to begin the second half.
• Sandburg (13-13 overall, 2-2 Arrowhead Conference) scored 13 of the next 17 to get within 46-45 with 14:46 to play. The first 10 of those points for the Chargers came from Price, who hit a pair of 3-pointers during the stretch.
• Black Hawk maintained a 64-62 lead before a 6-0 Sandburg run put the Chargers ahead for good. Babers tied the game with a jumper from the elbow at 5:15, and Koen Derry hit a free throw for a 65-64 lead. Price delivered a pair of 3s in the final minutes, including a dagger with 1:30 to play for a 76-70 advantage.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Price tallied 22 points to double his previous season high, set Jan. 11 at Black Hawk and Feb. 1 vs. St. Ambrose JV. The freshman was 8 of 12 from the field, including a red-hot 5 for 6 from 3-point range. Price also had four rebounds in the victory.
