Chargers Drop Opener to Bees Despite Hise’s Career Night

GALESBURG — Sophomore David Hise put together a huge night for his first career double-double, but the Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team dropped its season opener to St. Ambrose JV 92-86 on Thursday night at John Lewis Gym.

 KEY MOMENTS
• Down 41-36 early in the second half, the Chargers took a one-point lead as freshman Jack DuBois scored six straight points. The Bees, though, strung together a 10-0 run right after that, going ahead 51-42 with 15:13 left.
• A Koen Derry dunk, Hise 3-pointer and Derry three-point play highlighted a 13-5 stretch that got the Chargers' deficit to 78-74 with 4:50 to play, but St. Ambrose responded with an 8-0 run over the next 2:50 to push its lead back to 11.

Hise led the Chargers in scoring and rebounding, putting up 24 points and 11 rebounds, both of which were career highs.
