Chargers Upend Black Hawk as Caves Notches Double-Double

GALESBURG — Hunter Caves had a double-double and Connor Barnett led all players with 19 points as the Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team earned a 95-88 Arrowhead Conference victory over Black Hawk on Tuesday night at John Lewis Gym. 

KEY MOMENTS
• The Chargers trailed 40-39 at halftime but came out of the locker room with a 9-0 run and led the rest of the way. Caves opened the second half with a layup, Barnett hit a turnaround jumper and Myles Estrada knocked down a 3-pointer before Roee Dinnar capped the streak with a dunk at 17:02.
• The Braves made it 73-67 with 6:20 to go, but Sandburg responded with a seven-point streak to push its lead to 80-67. Tyrese Grose kicked off the run with a three-point play, Marckell Longstreet followed with a layup and Grose added another bucket for the Chargers with 5:00 left. Overall for the contest, Sandburg shot 57 percent (39 of 69) from the field.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Caves scored 18 points to match his season-high in scoring for the second straight outing, and he pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds for a double-double. The sophomore finished 8 of 13 from the field, hit both of his foul shots and added a steal as he earned his second career double-double.
