Ronnebeck Ties Career High With 5 3s in Road Loss to Kougars
MALTA — Griffin Ronnebeck matched his career high with five 3-pointers, but the Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team opened its Arrowhead Conference schedule with a 79-67 loss at Kishwaukee on Thursday evening.
Ronnebeck took all his field goal attempts from long range, finishing 5 of 12 on the night and leading the Chargers (5-11, 0-1) with a season-best 15 points, just two off his career best. It marked the third time in the third-year sophomore's career he's drained five 3s in a game. He previously did it Feb. 18, 2022, at Sauk Valley and Feb. 19, 2021, against St. Ambrose JV.
Connor Barnett had 13 points and three steals for the Chargers, while Hunter Caves finished with 12 points and a team-leading eight rebounds. Sandburg trailed 35-27 and halftime.
Kishwaukee was paced by Cameron Russell, who led all players with 28 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists on 12-of-19 shooting. Donavyn Sales added 15 points for the Kougars.
