Grose Posts 12 Points, 6 Boards in Chargers’ Loss at Chaparrals

GLEN ELLYN — Tyrese Grose had team-highs in scoring and rebounding, but the Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team let a halftime lead slip away in an 89-76 loss at DuPage on Thursday night.

Grose finished 6 of 8 from the floor for 12 points as he was one of four Chargers to reach double figures. He also grabbed a Sandburg-best six rebounds and handed out four assists.

The Chargers (2-5) shot 59 percent (20 for 34) in the first half — including 6 of 12 from 3-point range — in building a 47-40 lead at the break. But Sandburg cooled in the Sandburg half, going 11 of 33 from the field and just 1 for 11 from long range. The Chaparrals, meanwhile, shot 51 percent from the field after halftime, going 18 of 35.

Hunter Caves and Marckell Longstreet each added 11 points for Sandburg in the contest. Connor Barnett finished with 10 points.

DuPage's Derome White led all players with 25 points.
