GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College esports team has been off to a fast start, leading its region in not just one game title, but two.

The Chargers kicked off their fall season earlier this month. In the season's second week, they are first in the Western Region in Overwatch 2 and NBA 2K24.

"It's early yet, but we are hopeful that we can stay on top," Sandburg esports coach Russ Ulrich said.

Sandburg also has a team competing in FIFA 23 during the fall season. Each title has one match per week, with FIFA 23 playing on Mondays, Overwatch 2 on Wednesdays and NBA 2K24 on Fridays.

The fall regular season runs through Oct. 28. The NJCAAE regional postseason takes place Nov. 5-18, and the fall national postseason runs Nov. 27-Dec. 9.

The program is in the process of building its spring teams and hopes to add to its list of titles with games like Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege and Call of Duty.
