Swims sinks McHenry County as Chargers earn pair of road splits

CRYSTAL LAKE — Brady Swims twirled a gem in Game 1 on Sunday at McHenry County as the Sandburg baseball team earned its first shutout of the season in splitting a doubleheader against the Scots. That came a day after the Chargers split a pair of Arrowhead Conference contests at Highland.

L-Ethan Krei 2.2 IP, 2 K, 4 BB

Key moment
A two-out error in the bottom of the first kept the inning alive for the Cougars, who cashed in with a two-run double for the only runs of the game they'd need.

Sandburg standouts
Starting pitcher Ethan Krei (2.2 innings), Dhane McCormick (2.1 innings) and Dawson Fenton (1 inning) combined to allow just three hits in the contest, but the Chargers were shut out on one hit by Highland pitchers.
