Prince returns to lineup, but Chargers drop 9-inning contest to Cougars

GALESBURG — Will Prince made an impact in his first game in more than three weeks, but the Sandburg baseball team dropped a nine-inning contest 9-3 at Illinois Central on Wednesday evening.

KEY MOMENT
A three-run top of the seventh brought the Chargers to within 5-3. Prince led off with a walk and crossed the plate on a bases-loaded passed ball. With the sacks jammed once again, Payton Hankins hit into fielder's choice that included an ICC error and allowed two runs to score. The Cougars, though, got all three runs back in the bottom of the seventh, using three walks and a pair of errors to push their lead to 8-3.

SANDBURG STANDOUT
Prince, in the lineup for the first time since April 8 because of an injury, immediately made his presence felt as he reached base three times. Playing designated hitter, he had a two-out single in the second and drew leadoff walks in the seventh and eighth, finishing 1 for 2 with a run scored.
