
Ferguson has 1st Double-Digit Outing in Chargers’ Win Over Spoon River
GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College women's basketball team had four players score in double figures as the Chargers smoked Spoon River 87-65 on Tuesday night at John Lewis Gym.
KEY MOMENTS
• Down 6-5 in the first quarter, the Chargers (3-1) used an 11-0 run to grab the lead for good. Elly Bentley's pull-up jumper kickstarted the go-ahead stretch. Kelci Shelton followed with a layup off a steal, and Camille Kruse drilled a 3-pointer with 6:00 left.
• Sandburg rattled off a 13-0 run early in the second to push its lead to 45-19. Brook Pieper's three-point play opened the burst, and Bentley knocked down three mid-range jumpers. The Chargers had a 53-27 lead at the break and led by as many as 34 points in the second half.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Freshman Capre Ferguson had 14 points off the bench in her first double-digit outing as a Charger. The Galesburg High School product was 5 of 11 from the field and put in all four of her free-throw attempts. Ferguson also had four rebounds, a steal and an assist in the victory.
