FREEPORT — Hannah Pyle homered in Game 2, but the Sandburg softball team was stymied by Highland in both games of an Arrowhead Conference doubleheader Monday.

Key moments
The host Cougars took an early lead in the first after a leadoff double led to the game's first run. Highland scored twice more in the second on a bases-loaded hit batsman and an infield single.

Key moments
• Down 2-0 in the top of the fourth, Pyle cut the Chargers' deficit in half with a one-out solo home run to center field.
• Highland got that run back with a sacrifice fly in the fourth and extended its led with a four-run fifth inning.

Sandburg standout
Pyle's homer was her team-leading third of the season, with all three coming in the last three games. The first baseman is now hitting .447 for the season and has driven in 10.
