De la Fuente’s goal enough for Chargers in 1-0 win at Kankakee

KANKAKEE — Rodrigo De la Fuente's second-half goal accounted for the only score of the match as the Sandburg men's soccer team earned a 1-0 Region 4 win at Kankakee on Wednesday.

De la Fuente's tally came in the 60th minute off an assist from Mario Segura. It marked the second straight game in which Segura fed De la Fuente for a goal.

De la Fuente had four shot attempts and three shots on goal against the Cavaliers, both of which were team highs. The Chargers (2-0-2) totaled 12 shots, with eight of them on net. Luis Garcia took three shots in the victory, including two on goal.

Lucas Sa de Albuquerque Maranhao made three saves in goal for Sandburg as he kept a clean sheet for the third time in as many starts this season. Maranhao has stopped all 16 shots he's seen in 270 minutes of play.
