Robertson’s T13 leads Sandburg men’s golf at Chanay Invite
COAL VALLEY — Colby Robertson tied for 13th in his collegiate debut as the Sandburg men's golf team opened its season at the Duane Chanay Invite on Monday at Oakwood.
The Chargers finished ninth in the tournament, which included 36 holes of play on the day.
Robertson opened with a 6-over-par 77 and followed with a 4-over 75 in the second round. His day included eight birdies, with six coming during his final 18 holes.
Tanner Wake was 41st for the Chargers after rounds of 78 and 81. Sophomore Logan Beers tied for 42nd, shooting 80 and 81 for the day.
Sandburg scored a 316 in the first round and closed with a 326 for a tournament total of 642. The Chargers finished three shots back of Sauk Valley for eighth.
Illinois Central finished at 10 over for the day to beat runner-up Hawkeye by 27 shots. Hawkeye's Will Steege was the tournament champion by five shots over ICC's Trey Boecker. Steege finished 3 under for the event, highlighted by a final-round 67.
